The Nabha Jail Administration has written to the Hoshiarpur Police seeking the current whereabouts of former DSP Jaspal Singh. Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court and was lodged in the Nabha Agriculture Open Jail. In 2023, he was released on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh.
Following the release of the film Satluj, the jail authorities have reportedly initiated efforts to trace him and take him back into custody, if required under the applicable legal provisions.
Supreme Court upheld HC’s decision

In 2007, the Punjab and Haryana High Court enhanced the sentences of the other four convicts to life imprisonment. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s verdict in 2011.
