Government Pushes Structural Safety Measures
The Satya Niketan collapse has also prompted the Delhi government to focus on structural safety audits and safety certification for buildings used by the public.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the government and MCD are working on a policy for periodic structural audits and safety certifications for public-use buildings, including paying guest accommodations, nursing homes and schools.
The proposed framework aims to ensure that buildings meet safety requirements before being allowed to carry out public activities.
