Save land rally in Ludhiana tomorrow: Protest against “land pooling”, open invitation to all organizations

A land save rally is being organized in Ludhiana, Punjab tomorrow. The United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political India) is holding a rally against the government in the grain market of Jodha village in Ludhiana district tomorrow, on August 7. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal will specially reach this rally and lash out at the AAP government.

Dallewal said – A conspiracy is being hatched by the capitalists from Delhi to get the fertile lands of Punjab occupied by corporate houses by bringing a black policy called “land pooling” through the Punjab government.

The farmer leader said that under this policy, more than 65,000 acres of fertile land, on which millions of tonnes of wheat, paddy and vegetables are grown, will be ruined. This can lead to a food crisis for the people of Punjab and the country. He said that this fight is every Punjabi’s own fight and all farmers, laborers, students, shopkeepers and employee organizations have been given an open invitation to join this struggle.

Why is there a protest against the “land pooling” policy?

Farmer leaders said that the affected farmers whose lands were acquired in 2011 under the “land pooling” policy of the Punjab government have neither got plots nor has that land been developed till date. Due to this, many farmers could not even marry their daughters due to financial constraints.

He also said that how insensitive the Punjab government is towards farmers and their employment can be gauged from the fact that no steps were taken to stop the loot that happened during the paddy season last year. This year too, the government has given up on the arrangement of paddy procurement and storage.

Farmer leaders said that in the next phase of the movement, Mahapanchayats will be organized in various states to get the demands accepted and the promises made by the government implemented. Haryana on August 10, Rajasthan on August 11, Madhya Pradesh on August 14, Punjab (Baba Bakala) on August 16, Uttar Pradesh on August 17-18.
