Schedule for Punjab’s Rural Olympic Games released: ‘No-fee registration’ of bullock carts mandatory

The Punjab Rural Olympic Games in Kila Raipur will once again feature bullock cart races. The district administration has released the schedule for the Kila Raipur Games. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has formed an 11-member committee to conduct the games. Bullock cart races will be held on all three days. In addition, performers from different parts of the country will arrive and showcase their skills. The DC said that the games will be conducted in a traditional manner.

The DC clarified that bullock cart owners will have to register in advance to participate in the race. No bullock cart will be allowed to participate without registration. The DC said that registration for the bullock cart races will be free. The entire cost of these games is being borne by the Punjab government.

Animal Welfare Board and Government Orders to be Followed

The DC stated that a committee has been formed to conduct the bullock cart races. The committee will conduct the races in accordance with the orders of the Animal Welfare Board, the Punjab government, and the court. He said that legal action will be taken against anyone who violates the rules.

Games Schedule from January 30th to February 1st

Bullock cart races will be held on all three days: January 30th, 31st, and February 1st. Punjabi singers will perform in the evenings.

January 30th: Hockey match (Boys Open), Hockey match (Girls Open), 1500 meters final (Boys and Girls), 400 meters heats/final (Boys and Girls), 60 meters race (Primary school boys and girls), Bullock cart race (from 12:15 PM till evening) will be held. The opening ceremony will also feature Giddha, Bhangra, and performances by Nihang Sikhs.

January 31st: Hockey semi-finals (Boys and Girls), Kabaddi Circle Style (Boys and Girls), Kabaddi National Style Under-17 (Girls), Shot Put, Long Jump, 100 meters race, Tug-of-war, and Bullock cart race (afternoon and evening) will be held.

February 1st: Kabaddi National Style Under-17 (girls), 200 and 800 meter races, high jump, shot put finals, cycling race, races for age groups 65+, 75+, 80+, trolley loading-unloading, tricycle race, and bullock cart race will be held.
