Manipur: Authorities apprehended four militants from various locations across Manipur. Among those detained was Moirangthem Biramani Meitei, a self-proclaimed army chief of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba), who was arrested on Thursday by Phubala Patton in Bishnupur district.
Additionally, two members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Keisham Wilson Singh (18) and Thokchom Sanathoi Meitei (22), were detained from Salungpham Bazar in Thoubal district on Wednesday. They are accused of extorting small businesses, and authorities recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a 36 HE hand grenade, and three 9mm live rounds from them.
Another militant, Telem Naoba Singh (29), an active member of PREPAK (PRO), was arrested in Khurai Chairenthong in Imphal East district on Thursday.
In a related operation near K Geljang in Churachandpur district, security personnel recovered two firearms—including an AK rifle with a magazine—along with three detonators, two radio sets, an IED cap, and three homemade mortars.
