Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bans Interviews at Shri Harmandir Sahib

Emphasis has been placed on maintaining the sanctity and decorum of Shri Harmandir Sahib located in Amritsar. Kulwant Singh Mannan, the Chief Secretary of the Shiromani Committee, has made a special request to media institutions and bloggers to refrain from any kind of Q&A or interviews with devotees inside the Parikrama of Shri Harmandir Sahib.

He said that millions of devotees come here every day to offer their prayers. Interacting with them during this time may hurt religious sentiments. Additionally, it disrupts the sacred atmosphere and decorum. Clear instructions regarding this have already been issued by Shri Akal Takht Sahib that no kind of bites or recordings should be made inside the Parikrama.

Advice to seek Sangat’s feedback outside the Parikrama if necessary

Mannan also said that if it is necessary to seek the feedback of the Sangat on any issue, this should be done only at designated places outside the Parikrama. Recently, it is very unfortunate that a private channel recorded inside the Parikrama and, when stopped by the sevadars, asked counter questions.

Appeal to report objectionable content by the Sangat

Along with this, he also warned the media about the misuse of AI technology. He appealed that no objectionable content related to Sikh Gurus, religious symbols, or Shri Harmandir Sahib should be broadcast. Even if such news is to be reported, it should be limited to factual information, avoiding repetition of pictures or videos. He also appealed to the Sangat to report such sensitive content on the relevant platforms instead of sharing it further and to act responsibly.
