SGPC Buses Vandalised on Amritsar’s Heritage Street, Suspected Gunfire Under Probe

Amritsar: Several buses belonging to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) were allegedly vandalised while parked on Heritage Street in Amritsar, with police launching an investigation into the incident.

The buses, which are used to transport pilgrims to various religious shrines, were found with broken windows and other visible damage following the incident late Wednesday night.

CCTV footage captures vandalism

CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows individuals damaging the buses. Police are examining the footage to identify those allegedly involved in the incident.

There are also suspicions that shots may have been fired at the buses, although this has not been officially confirmed so far.

Police teams have reached the spot and are examining the damaged vehicles as part of the investigation.

Motive behind attack unclear

The motive behind the alleged vandalism remains unclear.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence collected from the scene to establish what happened and identify those responsible.

The SGPC buses play an important role in transporting sangat (pilgrims) to various Sikh religious sites. The damage to the vehicles has therefore raised concern among the SGPC and devotees.

Police are continuing their investigation, and further details about the incident, including whether firearms were used and the identity of those responsible, are awaited.
