Punjab Kings Cricketer Shashank Singh, Father Booked Over Cook’s Assault Allegations in Bhopal

Bhopal: Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, retired Madhya Pradesh Special Director General (DG) of Police Shailesh Singh, have been booked by the Ratibad police in Bhopal following allegations made by a cook employed at their residence. The complainant has accused them of assault, abuse and forcibly taking away his mobile phone.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), accessed by IANS, Shailesh Singh, Shashank Singh and their driver, identified as Mishra, have been named as accused. A case has been registered under Sections 296(B), 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is underway.

Cook Alleges Assault and Mobile Phone Seizure

The complainant, Vipendra Singh Tomar, a resident of Rewa district, told police that he joined work as a cook at the family’s bungalow in Neelbad on June 25. He alleged that he had been offered a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 along with food and accommodation.

In his complaint, Tomar stated that he was later informed that there were shortcomings in his work and that his mobile phone was taken away.

He alleged that on June 28, after preparing breakfast, he requested Shailesh Singh to return his mobile phone. According to the complaint, the request was refused, following which he returned to his room.

Tomar further alleged that Shailesh Singh, his son Shashank Singh and their driver entered the room, abused him and assaulted him. He also claimed that after the alleged assault, he was forced to leave the house.

The complainant further alleged that Rs 1,000 was transferred from his mobile phone, allegedly towards food and accommodation expenses.

Following the incident, Tomar approached the Ratibad police station along with his relatives and lodged a formal complaint seeking legal action.

Police Register FIR, Investigation Underway

Based on the complaint, Ratibad police registered an FIR against the three accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police officials said the allegations are being investigated, and statements of the parties concerned will be recorded as part of the inquiry.

Shashank Singh currently represents Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), while his father, Shailesh Singh, is a retired Special Director General of Police in Madhya Pradesh.

No Response From the Accused Yet

According to IANS, attempts were made to obtain a response from retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh regarding the allegations. However, no statement had been received at the time of filing this report.

The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has determined the guilt or liability of any of the accused.
