In her statement, Shetty called the reports linking her name to the case “baseless and motivated” and emphasized that any suggestion of criminality is factually incorrect and legally unsustainable. She reiterated her complete cooperation with authorities and urged the media to exercise restraint since the matter is sub judice (under judicial consideration).
Responding to recent media reports claiming an Income-Tax raid at her Mumbai residence, Shetty’s legal representative clarified that no such raid took place. Instead, officials conducted a routine tax verification, and any linkage of this action to the Best Deal TV case is unfounded.
The case stems from a complaint by a Mumbai-based businessman alleging that approximately ₹60 crore was invested in Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd between 2015 and 2023, with claims that the funds were not repaid as agreed. The Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is investigating the matter.
Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra previously faced questioning by the EOW, including hours of recorded statements. There were earlier reports of a lookout notice issued as part of the probe.
Shetty and Kundra have filed a quashing petition before the Bombay High Court seeking to challenge aspects of the case, asserting that the allegations contain “false and distorted facts.” The legal process is ongoing, and both have stated they are confident that justice will prevail.
The case has drawn significant media coverage due to the involvement of a high-profile celebrity couple. Shetty’s official statement seeks to clarify her position, emphasizing that her role with Best Deal TV was not operational or executive in nature.
