Mumbai: Actress Shilpa Shetty recently took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on the year 2016, which brought both professional milestones and personal heartbreak. Among the highs and lows, the year was marked by the painful passing of her father, Surendra Shetty, but also by the fulfillment of some of her professional dreams.
Bittersweet memories of 2016
Sharing her reflections on Instagram, Shilpa wrote, “2016: walk down memory lane…So many highs, so many lows… watched a dream come true with my book, celebrated milestones and … a painful goodbye to daddy. But Cest la vie… keep making memories, cause that’s all our souls take with them.” The post highlighted her journey through a year of contrasting emotions, celebrating accomplishments while mourning the loss of her beloved father.
Remembering her father on special days
Shilpa has continued to pay heartfelt tributes to her late father on significant dates. On December 22, marking what would have been his 85th birthday, she posted cherished memories with him, writing, “Cheers to 85, Dad! I hope you are enjoying your single malt up there.” Earlier, on October 11, she remembered her father on his 9th death anniversary, sharing a childhood throwback photo where her father tickled her, and captioning it, “Miss your smile… Miss YOU Daddy ❤️ 9 years today 🙏.”
Father’s passing and professional updates
Shilpa’s father passed away on October 11, 2016, at his home in Versova after suffering a cardiac arrest. Despite being rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, he was pronounced dead by the doctors. On the work front, Shilpa is set to appear in her upcoming film “KD: The Devil”, directed by Prem. The film stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Jisshu Sengupta, and Nora Fatehi in pivotal roles.
