Shimla Manisha Mittal Murder Case: No clue about attackers; SIT formed for investigation

Masked assailants fired four shots at Manisha Mittal, the administrator of Saraswati Paradise International School in Sanjauli, Shimla. Three bullets struck her head; two passed right through, while one was recovered from inside her skull during the post-mortem examination. Police also recovered spent bullet casings from the scene. Even 24 hours after the murder, no leads regarding the accused have been found.

However, the motive behind the murder remains unclear. Given the sensitivity of the case, Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to solve this sensational crime. Manisha Mittal had stepped out of the school premises around 6 PM on Saturday to buy noodles for her daughter.

Her daughter was at home at the time; Manisha would always lock her daughter’s room from the outside before going out to fetch supplies. After buying the noodles, as Manisha reached Gate No. 1, two masked assailants suddenly opened fire on her in quick succession, causing her to collapse on the spot. When she did not return, her daughter called her mobile phone repeatedly but received no response.

At the time of the incident, a security guard was on the other side of the gate, approaching to open it, when the fatal attack on Manisha took place. The manner in which the crime was executed suggests a premeditated attack preceded by reconnaissance; information regarding Manisha’s movements—such as the time she usually stepped out of the house—had likely been gathered beforehand. Preliminary investigations are exploring various angles, including property disputes and personal enmity. A police team remained present at the school premises on Sunday.

Simultaneously, the police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and attempting to gather information about the incident from local residents. Manisha was originally from Rohtak. She was currently residing in Rewari. It is noteworthy that Manisha Mittal, the administrator of Saraswati Paradise School located in the Sanjauli area of ​​Shimla (the capital of Himachal Pradesh), was shot dead by unidentified assailants yesterday. This sensational incident sent shockwaves through the area. On Saturday evening, two unidentified masked assailants shot Manisha in the head outside the school’s main gate. She collapsed on the spot, losing consciousness. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
