Search for Two Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists in J&K’s Shopian Enters Second Day

Shopian, J&K: A search operation launched by security forces to trace two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district continued for the second consecutive day on Sunday, officials said.

The operation was initiated after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of armed militants in the area. Security forces, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies, have intensified cordon-and-search operations across suspected locations in the district.

Massive Cordon and Search Operation Underway

Officials said the area has been placed under a tight security cordon, with additional reinforcements deployed to prevent any escape of the suspected terrorists. Drones and surveillance equipment are also being used to track movement in forested and hilly terrain.

The search operation has been expanded as forces continue combing multiple pockets in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Security Forces Maintain High Alert

The ongoing operation comes amid a series of counter-terror actions in the region, where security agencies have been conducting sustained efforts to neutralise active terror modules.

Officials said the operation will continue until the suspected terrorists are either located or neutralised. Further details are awaited as the situation remains fluid.
