The ongoing financial dispute surrounding the accounts of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala has intensified after his father, Balkaur Singh, publicly responded to allegations and clarified the family’s position. The clarification comes days after a viral audio recording, allegedly featuring Moosewala’s mother Charan Kaur and music director Bunty Bains, circulated on social media.
The family has accused those handling the singer’s professional affairs of financial irregularities and lack of transparency, leading to a police investigation.
Viral Audio Sparks Public Controversy
The controversy began when an audio clip went viral online, purportedly containing a conversation between Charan Kaur and Bunty Bains. In the recording, financial matters related to Moosewala’s music rights and accounts were allegedly discussed.
In response, Balkaur Singh issued a public statement, asserting that the family never intended to bring personal matters into the public domain. However, he said that since the audio was being “distorted” and narratives were being shaped around it, they felt compelled to clarify the truth.
“It is not right to create a story by making a mother’s audio public,” he stated, questioning the intent behind circulating the recording.

Allegations of Backdated Contract Signing
One of the most serious allegations made by the family concerns a contract that was allegedly signed under distressing circumstances.
According to Balkaur Singh, just four days after Moosewala’s death in May 2022, Bunty Bains visited their residence on June 4, 2022. The family claims they were in deep grief at the time and were asked to sign a contract that was backdated to August 2020.
The father questioned the urgency and appropriateness of signing such documents during a period of mourning, asking why such haste was necessary and whether proper consent was obtained.
“All Accounts Were Handled by Bunty Bains”
Balkaur Singh clarified that Bunty Bains managed all of his son’s financial accounts and transactions. He said the family relied entirely on him and followed his advice, including guidance about not withdrawing large sums from One Digital at once due to potential tax implications.
The family also claimed they never directly interacted with Shabir Momin and met Gurpreet Singh only once, both times allegedly introduced by Bains.
The father questioned what agreements were made, what documents were signed, and what decisions were taken, asserting that all arrangements were handled through Bains.
Work Entrusted in 2020
The statement further reveals that in 2020, Bunty Bains allegedly approached Moosewala seeking work. The singer reportedly trusted him and handed over professional responsibilities.
Balkaur Singh said that if there were issues with the management of accounts or other parties involved, it was Bains’ responsibility to inform the family and resolve matters transparently. He alleged that neither the work was reclaimed nor the truth disclosed in time.
“Now that it is about accounts and money, we want proper settlement—not an attempt to wash hands of responsibility,” he emphasized.
No Direct Dealings With Other Accused
The family has maintained that they had no direct dealings with Shabir Momin or Gurpreet Singh and do not wish to malign anyone’s reputation. However, they have called for an open discussion and complete financial disclosure.
They have demanded that all concerned parties come forward with full account statements and settle payments transparently. “We want our payment and the truth,” the statement read.
Police Complaint and Investigation
The dispute reportedly stems from the posthumous release of Moosewala’s unreleased songs. Each year since his death, the family has released preserved tracks. A company has been managing the circulation and media distribution of many of these songs.
The family alleges that they were neither paid properly nor provided with financial reports regarding revenue generated from the songs.
A complaint was filed with Mansa police on June 25, 2025. After no immediate action was taken, the family staged a protest outside the Mansa SSP office.
Subsequently, based on Charan Kaur’s statements, the Mansa Sadar police registered a case against One Digital Company, Gurpreet Singh, and Shabir Momin. An investigation is now underway.
Call for Justice
Balkaur Singh concluded his statement by thanking supporters who have stood by the family during the dispute. He reiterated that the family is not seeking conflict but accountability.
“We want only justice,” the family stated, emphasizing their demand for transparency and proper settlement of accounts related to Sidhu Moosewala’s musical legacy.
As the investigation progresses, the case continues to draw significant public attention, with fans and industry observers closely watching developments.
