Sikh Jatha to leave for Pakistan on April 10, Solo female travellers to go on pilgrimage; SGPC issues guidelines ahead Baisakhi

Chief Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Kulwant Singh Mannan has shared important information regarding the preparations of the Jatha going to visit the Gurdwaras in Pakistan on the holy day of Baisakhi.

Jatha to leave on April 10

He said that this time, some changes have been made in the schedule of the Baisakhi Jatha. Earlier, this Jatha was supposed to leave on April 12 and return on April 21, but now, according to the new schedule, the devotees will leave for Pakistan on April 10 and return home on April 19.

Kulwant Singh Mannan said that the Shiromani Committee has sent 1860 passports for this pilgrimage, and it is expected that about 1800 devotees will get visas. He said that there is great enthusiasm among the devotees to visit the Guru Ghar in Pakistan.

Clarification on Solo Female travellers 

Denying the rumors spread about the alleged ban on the travel of women alone during the pilgrimage, the Chief Secretary clarified the situation. He said that no such resolution has been passed by the SGPC nor has any official ban been imposed.

However, he suggested from the point of view of brotherhood and security that if women take a family member (brother, son, or any other female companion) with them, then it is easier to take care of them during the journey.

He said that there is a different joy and peace in going together in a jatha, and one can help each other in any need during the journey. The main duty of the SGPC is to facilitate the devotees and take proper care of them.
