6-Year-Old Boy Dies After Alleged Beating by Teacher at Visakhapatnam School

Visakhapatnam: A six-year-old boy died after being allegedly beaten by a teacher at a private school in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The family alleges that the teacher beat the child with a stick for not completing his homework.

The deceased child has been identified as Pranay Teja. He studied at Little Garden School in the One Town area. According to the family, his health suddenly deteriorated at school and he collapsed. He was taken to King George Hospital (KGH), where doctors declared him dead.

Family Accuses Teacher of Beating

According to the child’s father, Pranay was perfectly healthy on Thursday morning and was insisting on going to school. A few hours later, the family received a call about something untoward happening to the child.

The family claims that CCTV footage from the school shows a teacher beating the child with a stick. Shortly after, the child collapsed. Family members stated that the child had no prior serious health problems and had been playing normally the previous night.

The family also alleged that other children were also subjected to violence at the school. They have demanded strict action against those found guilty.

Three-member committee formed to investigate

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The child’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Revenue Divisional Officer Dilip Chakraborty also arrived at the hospital and confirmed that officials were gathering information related to the case.

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department described the incident as extremely unfortunate and said the government was taking the matter seriously. Following a preliminary investigation, a three-member committee has been formed, consisting of the Regional Joint Director (RJD), District Education Officer (DEO), and RDO of Visakhapatnam.

The department said that sensitization programs will be organized for teachers to help them treat students with responsibility and human sensitivity. Further action will be taken based on the committee’s report.
