Bengaluru: In a tragic incident in Nellarahalli, Whitefield, a six-year-old girl, Shahjahan Khatoon, was allegedly murdered. According to police, the incident may be linked to a dispute between neighbors and the girl’s mother.
The girl’s father, Inzamul Sheikh, filed a missing person’s complaint with the police after Shahjahan went missing from their home. After examining CCTV footage, police confirmed that the girl had gone with a known neighbor. Her body was later found in a jute bag thrown in a gutter. Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was strangled to death with a plastic rope. No external injuries were found on the bodies. The exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report.
DCP (Whitefield) Saidulu Adavath said that special teams have been sent to various locations to nab the accused and a detailed investigation is underway.
Bodies of mother and two children found in Tumakuru
The second incident occurred in Singanahalli village in Tumakuru district, where the bodies of a mother and her two children were found in a reservoir. The deceased were identified as Vijayalakshmi and her children Chetan and Chaitanya. Police suspect that the mother may have committed suicide along with her children due to mental stress.
Vijayalakshmi’s husband, Sampath, discovered the bodies upon returning home on Tuesday night. The family lived with Sampath’s parents, and Vijayalakshmi took care of the children and her father-in-law. Kyathsandra police have initiated an investigation into the case and are pursuing further action based on a complaint from the deceased woman’s brother.
Investigations underway in both cases
Police have launched a detailed investigation in both the Whitefield and Tumakuru cases. In Whitefield, police are searching for the accused neighbor, while in Tumakuru, the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths are being investigated. Local residents and families are cooperating with the police in both cases.
