The poor management of the PWD wing at Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur has once again increased the problems of patients. In the first rain of the monsoon, the ground floor of the trauma center was flooded everywhere. Due to the filling of water in the minor OT, the treatment of patients had to be stopped and it had to be shifted to another place. At the same time, the fall ceiling fell in the corridor near the OT.
This is the beginning of the monsoon and the monsoon is likely to remain active for two and a half to three months. In such a situation, questions are being raised that if there is a very heavy rain, then what will happen to the patients at that time?
Between 1 and 3 am, after rain in many areas in Jaipur city, the water coming out of the trauma center burst due to a drainage pipe bursting on the ground floor. The ECG room near the main emergency hall was flooded. Near it, the main corridor, the patients suffered due to water dripping in the minor OT. Patients coming to Minor OT were given treatment at another place. While the fall ceiling also fell in the corridor near the minor OT.
On receiving the information, Trauma Center Nodal Officer Dr. Rajendra Mandiya, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jagdish Modi, Additional Superintendent Dr. Pradeep Sharma and other administrative officers reached the spot and started the work of improving the arrangements there.
Last year too, water entered the water.
Water started coming on the floor everywhere, including the verandah, which started slippery. At the same time, patients, family members and staff also suffered. This is not the first time that there has been a complaint of water logging at the trauma center. Earlier last year, many wards including ICU wards, operation theatres and other places had to face water filling problems.
Fall ceilings broke in places.
Due to the water coming through the ducting, the fall ceiling in the hospital premises was also broken from place to place. Part of the fall ceiling in the corridor of the minor OT and plaster room near the ground floor collapsed. However, where part of the fall ceiling fell, there is no movement of patients.
Risk of spreading infection
The risk of infection also increases due to the presence of water and dirt in the main emergency and other places. In such a situation, serious patients are also forced to get treatment here amidst this chaos. Last year, the government and the Medical Health Department gave instructions to improve it by giving a budget, but still the situation is bad.
Water came due to pipe burst, we are getting it fixed
Dr. Rajendra Mandia, the nodal officer of the trauma center, said, “As soon as I got the information, I myself came here and after seeing the arrangements, instructed to get it fixed as soon as possible. Water has come here due to the bursting of an old drainage pipe. The water is more filled in the old ECG room. We have told the PWD wing to get the pipes repaired soon and get it cleaned so that the patients do not face any kind of problem.
