Srinagar: The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday raided multiple locations across South Kashmir in connection with an ongoing terror-related investigation.
Officials said the CIK conducted raids in several areas, specifically targeting locations in Kulgam and Shopian districts. The operations were carried out with the assistance of other agencies.
More details are awaited.
CIK Steps Up Action Against Terror Networks
The CIK is a specialised wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police that has significantly intensified operations to dismantle terror networks, radicalisation modules and terror-funding channels.
Recent operations in Shopian and Kulgam have highlighted the agency’s focus on disrupting networks allegedly operating through hidden messaging applications.
Earlier this year, the CIK conducted coordinated raids across six districts, including Budgam, Awantipora, Pulwama, Kupwara, Shopian and Srinagar.
The CIK found that local suspects were allegedly using high-security encrypted applications to remain in regular contact with cross-border terrorist handlers. Digital devices and communication logs were seized during the operations to help investigators map the communication networks.
Jaish-e-Mohammed Recruitment Cell Dismantled
The police agency also neutralised a Jaish-e-Mohammed recruitment cell in July 2026, according to officials. The module was described as a localised recruitment and sleeper-cell network allegedly being operated from across the border and spread across Pulwama, Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam.
In that operation, the CIK raided 10 specific locations to disrupt a network allegedly receiving directions from a cross-border commander. The focus was to prevent the recruitment of local youths into active sleeper cells backed by terror networks across the Line of Control (LoC).
CIK Targets Prison-Linked Communication Networks
The CIK’s Interstate and Jail Network Intel Operations have also targeted inmate-linked communication networks and their external connections in Anantnag District Jail, as well as similar premises in Kulgam, Udhampur and Jammu City.
Following the detection of suspicious technical signatures emerging from prison facilities, the CIK carried out coordinated searches under warrants.
Multiple mobile phones, SIM cards and tablets were recovered from prison cells and external links during the operations.
