Speeding car crashes on Amritsar-Delhi Highway, 3 LPU students dead

Jalandhar: A speeding Toyota car broke the divider and collided with a Tata 407 pickup traveling in the opposite direction on the Amritsar-Delhi Highway near Goraya in Jalandhar district. Three young men in the car died on the spot.

Deceased identified, all LPU students

The deceased were identified as Sahil Mohammad (23), son of Kashmir Mohammad; Daljit Bhatti (20), son of Avtar Chand; and Avtar Mehmi (17), son of Desraj Mehmi. All were residents of Muthadda Kalan and students of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara. They were all traveling from Jalandhar to Ludhiana.

Pickup driver injured, hospitalized

The driver of the Tata 407, Vijay Kumar, suffered a leg fracture and was hospitalized. People at the scene reported that the Toyota car was traveling at over 100 km/h and lost control, crashing into the divider.

Road Safety Force conducted rescue operations, bodies sent to Civil Hospital

The Road Safety Force team removed the crashed vehicle and transported the injured and deceased to the hospital. The bodies of the LPU students were taken to Phagwara Civil Hospital. Officials confirmed that the driver of the Tata 407 was not at fault.
