Speeding car hits vehicles in Bengaluru, 33-year-old bike rider killed

Bengaluru: A tragic accident occurred on Monday at the Vignana Nagar signal on Kaggadasapura Main Road in Bengaluru. A speeding car rear-ended vehicles parked at the signal. 33-year-old Naveen, a biker, died on the spot.

It is reported that Naveen was on his way to work and had stopped his bike at the signal. The impact was so severe that he was thrown about 50 feet from his bike and died from serious injuries.

Accident captured on CCTV

CCTV footage of the accident shows a car coming from behind. The car rammed into vehicles parked at the signal, hitting Naveen as well.

Naveen worked in a cutting shop and was on his way to work as usual. The accident has raised concerns about road safety and speeding in the area.

63-year-old car driver in custody

Following the accident, a complaint was filed at the Jeevan Bhima Nagar Traffic Police Station. Police have detained the 63-year-old man driving the car.

Police are investigating the car’s speed, driving behavior, and other circumstances surrounding the accident. The car involved in the accident has also been seized for investigation.

Rising road accidents in the country

This accident once again raises questions about road safety in Bengaluru. According to data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), 487,707 road accidents were recorded in India in 2024, a 1.5 percent increase compared to 2023. These accidents resulted in 177,175 deaths.
