New Delhi: An Akasa Air aircraft was struck by a SpiceJet plane at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi on Thursday, in a ground incident that occurred during aircraft movement.

Mid-Ground Collision During Taxi Movement

According to initial reports, the SpiceJet aircraft clipped the wing of a stationary Akasa Air plane while taxiing on the tarmac. The impact caused visible damage to the Akasa aircraft’s wing, prompting immediate response from airport authorities.

Both aircraft were on the ground at the time of the incident, and no passengers were reported injured.

Operations Temporarily Affected

Airport officials and ground staff quickly moved to assess the damage and ensure safety protocols were followed. The affected aircraft were grounded for inspection, leading to minor disruptions in flight operations at the airport.

Authorities have not indicated any major delays, but precautionary checks were carried out in the vicinity of the incident.

Probe Ordered Into Incident
