Mumbai: Prabhas starrer Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, will now release in theatres worldwide on October 29, 2027, coinciding with Diwali. The revised date puts the film on a potential box-office collision course with Ramayana Part 2, the second instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic, which is also scheduled for Diwali 2027.
Vanga announced the new release date on Sunday, October 18, while unveiling a new poster featuring Prabhas. The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in cinemas on March 5, 2027.
The director shared the poster on X and confirmed October 29 as the worldwide release date. The announcement has set up a major box-office clash between two highly anticipated films, although the makers of Ramayana Part 2 have not yet announced an exact release date.

Spirit to Feature Prabhas in a New Avatar
Vanga, known for directing Animal, had teased the announcement earlier on Sunday, promising fans a new poster featuring Prabhas.
Alongside Prabhas, Spirit features Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and veteran actress Kanchana in key roles. The film is planned for release in nine languages: English, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under the banners of T-Series Films and Bhadrakali Pictures.
Spirit and Ramayana Part 2 Eye Diwali 2027 Release
The revised date places Spirit in direct competition with Ramayana Part 2, provided the latter retains its announced Diwali 2027 release window.
Produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic. Its first instalment is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5, 2026.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, among others. While the second part has been announced for Diwali 2027, its precise release date remains unconfirmed.
The two films could therefore compete for audiences during one of the busiest festive periods for Indian cinema. The extent of the clash will become clearer once the makers of Ramayana Part 2 confirm their release schedule.
Prabhas Has Several Films in the Pipeline
Prabhas was last seen in The Raja Saab, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal.
The actor has several projects in the pipeline, including Fauzi, Spirit, Kalki 2 and Salaar 2.
