Former Sri Lankan captain Lahiru Thirimane has suffered a horrific road accident.

Colombo : Former Sri Lankan captain Lahiru Thirimane has suffered a horrific road accident.

The incident occurred near Anuradhapura, when Thirimane’s car collided with a lorry. It is being told that Thirimane has been admitted to the hospital after this incident.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the exact nature of Thirimanne’s injury is not yet understood, but he is currently in a stable condition at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

‘Along with Thirimane, one of his companions has also been admitted to the same hospital. Thirimane was on a pilgrimage when the accident occurred. Basically the car collided with a lorry going in the opposite direction.

After making his international debut in 2010, Thirimane played 26 T20s, 127 ODIs and 44 Test matches.

He appeared in three T20 World Cups, one of which Sri Lanka won in 2014, and two ODI World Cups. He also captained Sri Lanka in five ODI matches. After 13 years of playing, he had announced his retirement from international cricket in July 2023.
