Hockey India announces 28 members for men’s hockey training camp

Hockey India, today announced the 28-member core probable group for the senior men's national training camp to be held in Bhubaneswar.

New Delhi: Hockey India, today announced the 28-member core probable group for the senior men’s national training camp to be held in Bhubaneswar from Tuesday to March 30.

The camp is being organized at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar with the aim of improving the team as part of preparations for the Paris Olympics 2024.

The men’s hockey team returns to camp after a successful performance in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24, where they are currently placed third after scoring 15 points from eight matches in the Bhubaneswar and Rourkela phase.

The league will resume on May 22 in Antwerp, Belgium. The core group of the national coaching camp includes goalkeepers Krishna Bahadur Pathak, PR Sreejesh, Suraj Karkera and defenders Harmanpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Sanjay, Sumit and Amir Ali. The midfielders called to the camp include Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem, Shamsher Singh, Neelkanth Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Vishnukant Singh.

While the list of forwards includes Akashdeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Gurjant Singh, Mohammad Raheel Mousin, Bobby Singh Dhami and Arjit Singh Hundal. Indian men’s hockey team head coach Craig Fulton described the upcoming camp as important. He said, “We want to start a significant block of training in this camp and we need to ensure that

That we are in the best shape before we go for the series. He said that the players selected for the camp will be contenders to play in the upcoming important matches.

So, we have picked a group of experienced players along with some youngsters who have played in the Pro League. The Pro League mini-tournament in Odisha proved to be an excellent testing ground, but there is always room for improvement and we will look to get things right ahead of the final stages of the Pro League and the Paris 2024 Olympics.
