India's veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved another milestone in his career.

Dharamshala: India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved another milestone in his career. He has become the 14th player from India to play 100 Tests. Ashwin made this record in his name as soon as he took the field in the fifth and final Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday.

On this occasion, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid presented a special memento to Ashwin. During the third Test in Rajkot, Ashwin became the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to take 500 Test wickets. He also joined the exclusive club of bowlers like Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Kumble, Glenn McGrath, Courtney Walsh.

He also became the second bowler after Muralitharan to take 500 wickets in less than 100 Test matches. The 37-year-old player, who made his debut in Test cricket in 2011, has taken 507 Test wickets. He has also scored 3309 runs in this format with a batting average of 26.47. Which includes five centuries and 14 half-centuries.

Only Nathan Lyon (527 wickets) has taken more wickets than him in this format. Ashwin took his 35th five-wicket haul in Test cricket in the Ranchi Test and equaled Kumble’s record of most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in Test cricket. India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most matches in this format at the international level with 200 Test matches.
