Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has established itself as the most followed and popular franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Instagram, reaching an impressive 18 million followers. This achievement highlights RCB’s exceptional ability to engage with fans through unique and creative content, effectively transforming social media into a powerful tool for commerce and brand development, as stated in a release from the franchise.
In November 2023, RCB was trailing behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). However, the team’s vibrant content strategy and steadfast fan loyalty have propelled it ahead, surpassing CSK’s 17.7 million followers and MI’s 16.2 million. RCB recorded 17 million followers on March 23 and quickly surpassed the 18 million milestone within just 10 days.

A significant factor in this surge was the team’s recent historic victory over CSK on their home ground—a success 17 years in the making—that sparked a fan celebration and social media excitement.
