Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal lost to South Korea's Seong Chan Hong in the final qualifying round of the Indian Wells Masters tournament despite putting up a tough challenge.

Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal lost to South Korea’s Seong Chan Hong in the final qualifying round of the Indian Wells Masters tournament despite putting up a tough challenge.

In this match played on Tuesday, 26-year-old Nangal had to face defeat 6-2, 2-6, 6-7 (4-7). Earlier, Nangal had defeated American player Stephen Dostanik, who got wild card entry in the first round of qualifying, 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets.

Despite losing in the second round of qualifying, Nangal received 10 ranking points and prize money of US$14,400.

Nangal had reached the second round of the Australian Open earlier this year. He won the title of Chennai Challengers.

With this he was successful in making it to the top 100 in the world rankings. After this, however, he was not able to perform well in the competitions played in Pune and Dubai.
