SRH debutants Hinge and Hussain shine on IPL debut

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded a resounding 57-run victory in IPL 2026, snapping Rajasthan Royals’ four-match winning streak. Following the match, former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan heaped praise on “fearless prodigies” Shakib Hussain and Praful Hinge, who made a splash on their debuts.

He said these two young bowlers have shown that the future of Indian bowling is in safe hands.

    McClenaghan praises Shakib Hussain’s debut

“This fearless prodigy, Shakib Hussain, looks extremely talented. He took the big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal early on to disrupt Rajasthan’s innings and make the chase of 217 difficult.

He also surprised everyone with his slower delivery. His bowling is reminiscent of Mustafizur Rahman, and he looks like a right-arm version of Mustafizur.”

Hussain, who came in as an impact sub for Travis Head, recorded impressive figures of 4-24 and devastated the lower order.

    Praful Hinge’s record-breaking debut spell

Praful Hinge made a remarkable debut, taking three wickets in his first over. He became the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the opening over of an innings.

He recorded figures of 4-34 in his four overs.

‘The future of Indian bowling is secure’ – McClenaghan

McLenaghan said, “Praful varied his line and length brilliantly. He surprised Vaibhav Suryavanshi with a short ball on his very first ball and got him out. He also kept a brilliant fourth stump line against Dhruv Jurel, resulting in a wicket.

These two young bowlers have proven that the future of Indian bowling is in safe hands.”
