Sri Mukstar Sahib: Punjab jails searched to track down gangsters

As per the guidelines of the Punjab Government and DGP Punjab, under the special operation “Gangsters De Vaar” being run at the state level, SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib, Abhimanyu Rana, IPS, is implementing strict, continuous operations to eradicate criminal networks in the district.

In this context, a special, deliberate, and surprise search operation was conducted in the District Correctional House (Jail) under the strict supervision and strategic planning of SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib Abhimanyu Rana, IPS. The main objective of this operation was to strengthen legal discipline in the jail, ban illegal means of communication, and break any secret network being run by criminal elements.

Leadership and Management of the Operation
This operation was smoothly implemented under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent Puneet Garg and DSP Sri Muktsar Sahib Bachan Singh with the support of Jail Superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar. More than 65 police officers and personnel from different police stations of the district were deployed under special guard.

During the entire operation, every aspect was monitored under a strong security perimeter inside and outside the jail, so that there was no negligence or lack of security.

Main operations and the investigation process

• All the barracks, wards, and sensitive areas of the jail were thoroughly inspected.

• Personal search of the prisoners and detainees was conducted, and their belongings were checked in detail.

• Strict surveillance was maintained in the bathrooms, store rooms, corners of the walls, ceilings, and other possible hiding places.

• Guarding was strengthened on the internal and external traffic routes.

• Information regarding possible illegal activities was collected by questioning some suspicious elements.

During this, a review of the security arrangements was also conducted with the joint cooperation of the jail administration and the police and instructions were issued to take corrective steps wherever necessary.
