The Baitarani river has surpassed the danger level at Akhuapada, prompting officials to issue flood warnings for Jajpur and Bhadrak districts. Speaking to ANI, Water Resources Chief Engineer Lingraj Gaur explained that the catchment area of the Baitarani experienced significant rainfall on Friday, accumulating around 150mm to 200mm over three days in some locations. He confirmed that a flood-like situation is developing.

He stated, “The danger level at Akhuapada is 18.33 meters, and the current level is 18.8 meters. It is rising at about 12mm per hour, which could push it over 19 meters. There is a flood-like situation, but it has not yet become a severe flood.”
