Kolkata: The Meteorological office in Kolkata on Tuesday predicted heavy rain in several pockets of West Bengal between July 23 and 27 as a low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal.
A potential low-pressure system forming over the north Bay of Bengal around July 24, combined with favorable monsoon conditions, is expected to trigger widespread rainfall across the state, particularly in South Bengal.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall intensity is set to increase starting Wednesday, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) likely in districts such as South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia, and Hooghly, and heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) expected in other South Bengal districts over the next few days.
Low to Moderate showers and thunderstorms reported
In North Bengal, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast for many areas until July 27, with heavy rainfall predicted at isolated spots in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Coochbehar between July 25 and 27.
