A storm wreaked havoc in the border village of Jhangar Bhaini in Fazilka. Due to the strong winds, a cement shed from the kitchen was blown off and fell onto a girl, causing severe injury to her neck. The injured girl was taken to a private hospital in Fazilka for treatment, where doctors declared her dead.
A wave of grief has swept through the entire village following this tragedy. It is reported that the girl’s father had passed away just two months ago; now, her death has left the family in deep shock. People are visiting to offer their condolences to the family.
Shed Could Not Withstand the Force of Strong Winds
Hardeep Singh, a resident of the village, stated that Sunita Rani (18), daughter of Manga Singh, was standing under a shed at her home on Thursday. During this time, the kitchen’s cement shed was blown off by strong winds and fell on her, causing a severe neck injury. According to villagers, their house had become dilapidated due to rains and floods last year and had developed cracks; consequently, the shed could not withstand the pressure of the strong winds.
Third Death in the Family in Six Months
Villagers also mentioned that the girl’s father had passed away two months ago, and her grandfather had also died some time prior. This marks the third death in the family within the last six months, leaving them in deep shock. The family’s financial condition is also reported to be very weak. Villagers have urged the government to provide financial assistance and all possible help to the bereaved family.
