Strides toward Inclusivity: Union Minister dedicates Indigenized IQ assessment test kit to the Nation

New Delhi: In a historic event underscoring a momentous stride towards inclusivity and empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, bestowed the one Croreth Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card upon Vanshika Nand Kishore Mane and seven other Divyang beneficiaries in New Delhi. The ceremony, graced by the presence of Union Minister Virendra Kumar and Minister of State (Persons with Disabilities)  Pratima Bhoumik, highlighted the profound impact of the UDID project.

Launched in 2017 by the Government of India, the UDID project aims to furnish a distinctive identity to every Divyang (person with disabilities) in the country, thereby establishing a comprehensive database for strategic welfare planning.

During the event, the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment dedicated an indigenized IQ assessment test kit to the nation, marking a significant milestone in self-reliance. Addressing the audience, the Minister underscored the significance of Divyangjan as a valuable national resource and shared the government’s vision for an inclusive society and the holistic development of Divyangjan. Expressing pride in the development of the Indian version of the IQ test, he echoed the Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash, Sabka Vishwas.”

Kumari Pratima Bhoumik, the Minister of State (Persons with Disabilities), emphasized that the tools developed by the government should extend their benefits to the remote areas of the North East and even foreign countries.

Revealed during the event, the UDID card has been integrated into various schemes, encompassing skill training, scholarship application verifications, National Trust insurance schemes (Niramaya), DDRS beneficiaries, RCI regulated institutions, free clinical services, and education in National Institutes and CRCs.
