Uttar Pradesh: The weather in western Uttar Pradesh has taken a sudden turn. Heavy rain has been recorded in Noida and Bulandshahr. Cloudy skies are prevailing in Meerut and Bareilly. Strong and cold winds are blowing in Sambhal, Ghaziabad, and Amroha. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain and hailstorm alert for February 18 and 19.

Thunderstorms likely in 13 districts

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and rain are likely in 13 districts of western Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Light drizzle is expected in five districts of Bundelkhand.
Strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are possible during this period. Lightning and hail are also possible in some areas.

Temperature Status

• Banda was the hottest district on Tuesday, with a maximum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius.
• Hamirpur was second, with a temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius.
• Prayagraj ranked third, with a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius.
• Etawah recorded a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius.

Statement by Lucknow Meteorologist Atul Singh

According to Atul Singh, meteorologist at the Lucknow Meteorological Center,

There will be no significant change in the maximum temperature over the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature may increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. After this, the temperature is expected to gradually decrease by 2 to 3 degrees.

Weather Updates for Various Cities

Noida remained cloudy since Tuesday night. Light rain occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Bulandshahr experienced heavy rain on Wednesday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted similar weather conditions tomorrow.

Water remained clear in Gorakhpur on Wednesday morning. The maximum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 11 degrees Celsius.

Warning for Farmers

If rain is accompanied by strong winds, the wheat and mustard crops may be damaged. Falling of the crop can weaken the grains and impact yields.

Therefore, the Meteorological Department has advised farmers to be cautious and not store the harvested crop in open spaces.

Rainfall likely in these districts of Western Uttar Pradesh

On February 18, 19 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh may experience dense clouds and light rain. These include:
Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Baghpat, Hapur, Mainpuri, Etawah, Kasganj, Etah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.

Changing Weather in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand

Weather changes have also been observed in Rajasthan, bordering Uttar Pradesh. Rain has occurred in Jaipur, Alwar, and Tonk. Hailstorms have also occurred around Jaipur. The drop in temperatures has increased the cold.
Rain and snowfall are likely in the high altitude areas of five districts of Uttarakhand—Uttrakashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. According to the Dehradun Meteorological Center, snowfall is possible in areas above 3300 meters.

According to Mahesh Palawat, meteorologist at Skymet Weather in Noida,

This year, Uttar Pradesh experienced less cold compared to the previous two years. The average maximum and minimum temperatures in December and January were above normal. Between January 1 and February 11, rainfall decreased by about 36 percent. This year, there was no severe cold. Due to the absence of La Niña, the cold remained moderate.

According to Mohammad Danish, scientist at the Lucknow Meteorological Center,

The activity of western disturbances in the state was low this winter, resulting in less than normal winter rainfall.

According to Professor Manoj Srivastava, meteorologist at Banaras Hindu University,

The winter is now in its final stages. Temperatures will gradually rise in the coming days. It’s springtime. The weather won’t change much for the next two to three weeks. During this time, mornings and nights will be mildly cold, while afternoons will be sunny.
