Suicide blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaves 5 dead, 13 injured

New Delhi: A suicide car bomb attack struck the Domel police station in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least five people and injuring 13 others. A policeman was among the injured.

Massive damage and people buried under rubble
The blast occurred when a vehicle laden with explosives hit the rear of the police station. The explosion was followed by gunfire. The police station’s sentry post was completely destroyed, reducing a large portion of the building to rubble. Several nearby houses also collapsed, trapping many people in the debris.

Rescue operation underway
Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the hospital, some of whom are reported to be in critical condition. According to District Emergency Officer Bakhtullah Wazir, the deceased included four members of the same family—a husband, wife, son, and daughter. Rain hampered rescue operations, but the operation was accelerated after the firing stopped.

Increasing violence in the area
Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation. Security incidents have increased recently in Bannu. According to reports, cases of violence in the province have increased significantly in 2025.

Recently, unknown assailants shot and killed a police officer in Upper Dir district, raising questions about the security situation in the area.
