Former international Kabaddi player ends life by hanging from tree

Ludhiana: A 50-year-old former international Kabaddi player ended his life by hanging himself from a tree near Sidhwan Bet area of Ludhiana. The deceased has been identified as Avtar Singh alias Shunty of Kishanpura. According to the police, some villagers spotted a lifeless body of Avtar Singh hanging from the tree on Kishanpura Kalan Road.

A 50-year-old former international Kabaddi player ended his life by hanging himself from a tree near Sidhwan Bet area of Ludhiana.

The deceased has been identified as Avtar Singh alias Shunty of Kishanpura.

According to the police, some villagers spotted a lifeless body of Avtar Singh hanging from the tree on Kishanpura Kalan Road following which they raised the alarm.

After receiving the alert, the police reached the spot and initiated investigation into the matter.

The family members shared that Avtar Singh was upset after failing to get any government job even after struggling for many years. Today, when he was listening to music on mobile phone, his mother asked him to rather hear the gurbani following which he just left the house and after some time, the villagers informed about his body hanging from the tree.

The police have taken the body in custody, sent it for postmortem and initiated inquest proceedings under BNSS.
