Amritsar: A young man shot himself in the premises of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab. The injured youth was taken to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports, VIPs were visiting the Golden Temple to pay their respects, accompanied by their security personnel. While the VIPs went inside the temple, their security personnel remained outside in the corridor. During this time, the young man managed to grab one of the security personnel’s pistols and shot himself.
The police are currently investigating the incident and working to identify the deceased. Upon hearing the gunshot, nearby shopkeepers rushed to the scene, but the young man had already been injured. Sadly, the gunshot wound was fatal.
The police have indicated that the individual who shot himself was a migrant, and they are looking into his background. CCTV footage is also being reviewed to gather more information. The incident took place in front of the Golden Temple entrance gate, an area with shops, VIP parking, and constant security presence, including police officers’ offices.
