Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced a major political move ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Citing strong public demand, he revealed that he will contest from the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency instead of his longtime seat in Jalalabad.
Badal has represented Jalalabad for several terms, but the shift to Gidderbaha is historically significant, as the Badal family has deep roots in the constituency. His father, former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, also served as MLA from Gidderbaha.
