Sukhbir Singh Badal to Meet SSP in Khanna After SAD Leader Yadwinder Singh Yadu’s Arrest

Ludhiana: Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal will arrive in Khanna, Ludhiana today. He will meet the SSP regarding the arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal constituency in-charge Yadwinder Singh Yadu from the counting center during the counting of votes for the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections in Khanna.

In fact, the police have registered a case against Yadwinder Singh Yadu and his associates. The police will also present him in court today. This incident has sparked a new political controversy. Meanwhile, after meeting the SSP, Sukhbir Badal will also meet with party workers to encourage them.

Case under several sections, including obstruction of government work

Akali leaders and workers blocked GT Road in protest against Yadwinder’s arrest, prompting police to lathi-charge them and arrest them. A case has reportedly been registered against Yadwinder and his associates at City Police Station 2 under various sections, including obstruction of duty. Yadwinder and his associates will be produced in the Khanna court today, where police will attempt to obtain their remand.

District President Paramjit Singh Dhillon called the action “murder of democracy,” saying the Aam Aadmi Party was distraught by its defeat. Dhillon stated that Sukhbir Badal stands with every party worker and that Khanna will be present, although the exact time of his arrival has not yet been finalised.

He wrote that the Punjab Police, acting on orders from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, forcibly took away Shiromani Akali Dal chief sevak Yadwinder Singh Yadu from a counting center in Khanna.

Badal alleged that this could not suppress Shiromani Akali Dal workers. He said that the AAP government first prevented Akali candidates from filing nominations to win the Zila Parishad elections, then captured booths on polling day, and now the government’s “bullying” continued on counting day.

Addressing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his colleagues, Sukhbir Badal said that they could use as much force as they wished, but the Shiromani Akali Dal leaders and workers would not be subdued. He claimed that the Shiromani Akali Dal’s storm was now unstoppable.
