Heavy rain raises Sukhna Lake level in Chandigarh; Floodgates to open again, 3-Day rain alert issued

Chandigarh, Aug 31: It has been raining intermittently in Chandigarh since Sunday morning. A day before, the water level of Sukhna Lake had crossed the danger mark, after which the administration opened both the flood gates. Due to this, water entered the nearby villages and people had to face problems.

On Friday, the water level rose to a foot above the danger mark. However, about 14 hours later, when the water receded in the evening, the administration closed the flood gates. The water accumulated in Kishanpura village and other places also started receding slowly and people heaved a sigh of relief.

How will the weather be for the next 3 days

Monday: Light to moderate rain, humidity will persist.

Tuesday: Possibility of heavy rain, temperature will remain below normal.

Wednesday: Cloudy, with occasional drizzle.
