Sunshine lifts Chill in Punjab; 97% less rainfall recorded in February

The cold is almost over in Punjab and Chandigarh. It’s a bit chilly in the morning and evening, but the bright sunshine during the day has made the weather feel warm. According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, there’s no chance of rain in Punjab and Chandigarh for the next seven days. However, winds will blow from the mountains during the day.

The maximum temperature has increased by 0.9 degrees in the last 24 hours, which is 3.5 degrees above normal. The highest temperature of 28.8 degrees was recorded in Faridkot. However, this month has received 97% less rainfall than normal.

Except for three districts, all districts have received less rainfall.

According to the Meteorological Department, winds will blow from the northwest during this time. Temperatures will rise during the day. Although the weather remained clear throughout the day, dense fog was recorded in Amritsar, with visibility dropping to less than 500 meters. However, there is no possibility of rain yet this month.

Only 0.6 mm of rain has fallen so far, which is 97% less than the normal (20.1 mm). Most districts have received no or very little rainfall during this period. Fatehgarh Sahib has received 90% more rainfall than normal.

Gurdaspur recorded 49% more rainfall than normal, while Muktsar (88%) received less. Meanwhile, districts like Ferozepur (86%), Fazilka (86%), and Bathinda (80%) have seen significant rainfall deficiencies.
