Sunshine Returns to Himachal After Rain; Hailstorm Alert for June 18–19, Monsoon Likely After June 20

Most parts of Himachal Pradesh have had good sunshine since this morning. After the rain, the sunshine has made the weather in the mountains quite pleasant. However, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain in a few areas today as well. Tomorrow, the weather will be similar.

The day after tomorrow, i.e., June 18, the western disturbance will be stronger. As a result, there is a possibility of heavy rain along with thunderstorms in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts on June 18 and 19. During this time, strong winds of up to 40 km/h may blow in many areas.

Rain is likely to continue in several parts of the state on June 20 and 21 as well. According to the IMD, the monsoon may arrive any time after June 20. The usual date for the monsoon to enter the state is between June 22 and 25.

31 mm Rain in Kufri

In the past 24 hours, heavy rain and hail were also recorded in many areas of the state. Shimla received 12 millimeters of rain, Sundernagar got 17 millimeters, Kangra recorded 11 millimeters, and Kufri recorded the highest at 31 millimeters.

Temperature expected to stay around normal for the next six days

Following the rain, there has been a slight drop in the state’s temperature. People have gotten some relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures are likely to remain around normal for the next six days.

The rain is also expected to provide relief to farmers and orchardists. However, the Meteorological Department has advised people to stay cautious during bad weather. People are being urged to avoid going to open areas during strong winds and storms.

Pleasant weather at tourist spots

These days, the state’s tourist spots are experiencing pleasant weather. Shimla recorded 24.4 degrees, Manali 24.2 degrees, Kufri 18.2 degrees, and Narkanda 17.5 degrees Celsius. Tourists coming to the mountains from all over the country are enjoying the pleasant weather.
