New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav a final opportunity to deposit at least ₹2 crore with the Supreme Court Registry within two weeks in connection with cheque-bounce cases involving Murli Projects Private Limited.
During the hearing, the court expressed concern over Yadav’s previous commitments and compliance with its directions. The bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, made a sharp remark about the actor’s profession, saying that while he is good at acting in films, the court hoped he would not be “acting” before it.
Court Orders Passport Surrender
Along with directing Yadav to deposit ₹2 crore, the Supreme Court also ordered him to surrender his passport. The court described the latest opportunity as a final chance to comply with the financial condition.
What Is The Case?
The dispute is linked to seven cheque-bounce cases involving Murli Projects Private Limited. Earlier proceedings in the matter had resulted in imprisonment and directions for repayment. The latest Supreme Court order provides Yadav another two weeks to meet the required financial condition.
