Supreme Court of India Upholds Decision to Cancel Rajasthan SI Recruitment 2021

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has delivered a major decision regarding the Rajasthan Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment 2021, upholding its cancellation. The Court dismissed the appeals of selected Trainee SI candidates.

Appeal dismissed, strict comments on process
A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra Sharma dismissed the special leave petition, stating that serious irregularities in the recruitment process had been identified that cannot be ignored.

Indications of Systematic Paper Leak
The Supreme Court stated that the paper leak occurred at an institutional level. The court cited the arrest of a member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) as an indication of serious flaws in the system. The accused’s bail has already been rejected.

Cancellation of the entire recruitment process is the only option
The court clarified that in such circumstances, it is impossible to distinguish between guilty and innocent candidates. Therefore, cancelling the entire selection process is the only legal recourse.

High Court’s decision affirmed
Earlier, both a single bench and a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court had ruled to cancel the recruitment. The candidates challenged this decision in the Supreme Court, but they received no relief there either.

The court also indicated that a strict stance would be taken in cases of examination malpractices and tainted selection processes would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
