Breaking: Supreme Court permits green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, sets timeline

New Delhi: This year ‘Green Diwali’ will be celebrated in Delhi NCR as the Supreme Court gave nod to environment-friendly fire crackers. The Apex Court permitted bursting of green firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR region, with conditions. As per the order, green firecrackers can be burst from October 18 to 21.

Supreme Court relaxed the firecracker ban conditions in the Delhi-NCR region ahead of Diwali and allowed the bursting of green firecrackers from October 18 to October 21.The

Supreme Court also set a timeline within which crackers can be burst. As per SC, green firecrackers are allowed from 6 am to 7 am on Diwali and again from 8 pm to 10 pm in the evening.

Supreme Court said it has to take a balanced approach, permitting bursting of green firecrackers in moderation while not compromising with the environment.

The Court ordered the Police authority to constitute a patrolling team to keep an eye on that only permitted products with QR codes are sold in the market. Supreme Court ordered that there shall be no firecrackers allowed in the Delhi-NCR region from the outside. Supreme Court orders that if fake firecrackers are found, the licence of the seller will be suspended.
