Supreme Court reprimands Rajpal Yadav for delay in payment, says, “Your place is in jail.”

New Delhi: The Supreme Court took a tough stance against actor Rajpal Yadav in a payment case. The court reprimanded him for not complying with the earlier payment directive and stated that it is essential to adhere to the court’s order and assurances.

    Court displeased with payment

During the hearing, a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant expressed displeasure over Rajpal Yadav’s delay in payment. His lawyer informed the court that a demand draft of ₹50 lakh had been prepared and was being processed at the bank.

The court questioned the continued delay in payment and asked why the earlier assurances were not followed.

Court said, “Your place is in jail.”

During the hearing, when Rajpal Yadav argued about the financial condition of the complainant company, the Supreme Court reacted strongly. The court stated that regardless of the complainant’s financial situation, it does not absolve him of his responsibility to pay.

The bench, in a stern remark, said, “Your place is in jail.”

    Order to pay by Tuesday

The Supreme Court granted Rajpal Yadav another opportunity to make the payment. The court stated that it could dismiss the appeal, but this could impact the complainant’s recovery of the money.

The next hearing in the case will be held on Wednesday.

    What is the whole matter?

The dispute allegedly relates to financial assistance received for the film and its payment. According to the complainant, checks issued to repay the money bounced.

The Delhi High Court has already upheld Rajpal Yadav’s conviction in several check bounce cases. His appeal is now being heard in the Supreme Court.
