The court acknowledged the petition and issued a notice to the Punjab Government. During a subsequent hearing, the Supreme Court directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to take steps to ensure Dallewal’s hospitalization and to end his hunger strike.

However, the Punjab Government did not ensure his hospitalization. As a result, the Supreme Court has now issued a contempt notice to the Chief Secretary and DGP of Punjab. The court’s double bench has ordered both officials to appear virtually during the hearing scheduled for tomorrow.
