Suvendu’s Government Five Major Decisions: Financial Assistance of ₹3,000 for Women; Free Travel on Government Buses

The Suvendu government in Bengal took major decisions during the cabinet meeting held today. Following the meeting, Agnimitra Paul, a minister in the Bengal government, provided details regarding the decisions taken by the administration. Agnimitra Paul announced that the West Bengal Cabinet has approved the ‘Annapurna Scheme’ for women. Additionally, the formation of the 7th Pay Commission has also been approved.

What are the five major decisions taken by the Suvendu government?

1. The Annapurna Scheme has been approved in Bengal. Under this scheme, women across the state will receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month, starting from June 1.

2. The state government has also approved free travel facilities for women on government buses, effective from June 1.

3. Paul stated that the Cabinet has also given its approval for the constitution of the 7th Pay Commission for state government employees, as well as for employees of affiliated statutory bodies and educational institutions.

4. The State Cabinet has also decided to discontinue government aid provided to groups based on religious grounds, effective from the month of June.

5. Beneficiaries of the Annapurna Scheme will include individuals applying for citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), as well as those applying to tribunals for the inclusion of their names in the voter list.

The Suvendu Government had taken major decisions in its very first Cabinet meeting as well.

The Suvendu government has taken several significant decisions during its inaugural Cabinet meeting, including the approval to raise the upper age limit by five years for applicants seeking employment in schools.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised this during the election campaign, and the Suvendu government approved it in its very first Cabinet meeting.

Furthermore, approval was granted for the implementation of the ‘Ayushman Bharat Scheme’ within the state. The previous Trinamool Congress government had refused to implement this scheme.

Under this initiative, the Central Government provides health insurance coverage to economically vulnerable families. Now, the people of Bengal will also be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.

The government also approved the decision to allocate land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing along the Bangladesh border. This decision by the government is of immense significance in terms of curbing infiltration into Bengal. The process of acquiring land for fencing along the border commenced on Monday and is scheduled to be completed within 45 days.
