    Swami Vivekananda statue unveiled in Seattle

    Washington: A life-size bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled in Westlake Square in downtown Seattle, USA. According to officials, this is the first time a US city administration has installed a statue of Vivekananda in a public space.

    The statue was jointly unveiled by Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Indian Consul General Prakash Gupta.

    Key location in Downtown Seattle

    The statue has been installed in Westlake Square, a major public space in Seattle that attracts over 400,000 visitors daily and millions of tourists monthly.

    The location is located near major landmarks such as Amazon headquarters, the Seattle Convention Center, and the Seattle Center Monorail.

    Strengthening India-US Cultural Ties

    The ceremony was attended by numerous public representatives from the Greater Seattle area, including mayors, council members, and representatives of the Indian-American community from various cities.

    Mayor Katie Wilson said the statue reflects Seattle’s “spirit of inclusiveness” and is an important step toward strengthening cultural ties with India.

    Symbol of Cultural Diplomacy

    The statue was gifted to the City of Seattle by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). According to officials, this initiative is an effort to further deepen cultural cooperation between India and the United States.

    The statue was created by Indian artist Naresh Kumar Kumawat, who has created over 600 sculptures worldwide. This installation reflects Vivekananda’s global legacy and will play an important role in promoting Indian culture.
