New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Sunday accused the Punjab government of blocking newspaper distribution across several areas in an alleged bid to suppress media coverage of her recent allegations against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

‘Dictatorship at Peak,’ Says Maliwal

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Maliwal wrote:

“Shocking! This morning, Punjab government has reportedly attempted to block the distribution of newspapers across several areas. All this is happening because the news about Arvind Kejriwal ji’s Sheesh Mahal 2.0 is spreading like wildfire throughout Punjab.”

She further alleged that media houses were being threatened with withdrawal of government advertisements if they continued covering her statements.

“Dictatorship at peak!” Maliwal added.

Renewed Attack on Kejriwal and AAP

The allegations come a day after Maliwal launched a fresh offensive against Kejriwal and the AAP, accusing them of misusing government resources and building a lavish residential complex in Punjab, which she dubbed “Sheesh Mahal 2.0.”

According to her, a two-acre, seven-star government bungalow located in Chandigarh’s Sector 2, originally designated for the Punjab Chief Minister, has allegedly been allotted to Arvind Kejriwal.

Allegations of Misuse of Government Property

Maliwal further claimed that two additional government bungalows —

• No. 960, Sector 39 (allegedly allotted to former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia), and

• No. 926, Sector 39 (allegedly for former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain) —
  have also been occupied by Delhi-based AAP leaders who have shifted base to Chandigarh.

“Occupying government property is a crime,” Maliwal asserted, accusing the Punjab government of offering state-owned luxury accommodations to party functionaries from Delhi.

Claims of Helicopter and Jet Use

Maliwal also alleged that Kejriwal had travelled from the Chandigarh bungalow to Ambala in a Punjab government helicopter, before flying to Gujarat in a state-owned jet for party-related events.

She said these actions demonstrate “blatant misuse of public resources for political purposes.”

No Response from AAP or Punjab Govt

As of now, neither the Aam Aadmi Party nor the Punjab government has issued an official response to Maliwal’s latest set of allegations.

The controversy has added a new layer of tension within the AAP, already facing internal and public scrutiny following Maliwal’s earlier accusations against party leadership.
